Fishing Report (Updated 2.4.2010)

Lake Jocassee is up to almost 100% of full pool.

Trout: Good.  Captain Steve Pietrykowski (864-353-3438) reports that the bite remains good when anglers are willing or able to brave the cold, wind and rain.  Fish can be caught a variety of ways from the surface down to 45 feet.  Some anglers are having success trolling spoons and drifting live bait.  Others are jigging spoons underneath schools of bait that are getting pushed to the surface. Some anglers are catching fish casting Rooster Tails or small plugs shallow.  The next Jocassee Outdoor Center Trout Tournament is Saturday, February 13.

Black Bass: Slow to fair.  Captain Pat Bennett (864-384-5922) reports that fishing continues to be day to day, but good fish can be found on main lake points.  Getting them to bite is another story, but sometimes they will take a white jig.  Fishing a jigging spoon under schools of bait beside steep drops and ledges is also a good bet.  Read about winter bass fishing on Lake Jocassee with Captain Pat Bennett: http://www.scfishingreport.com/Pages/sc_message_boards/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3671.

DHEC Fish Advisory – Only one meal per week of largemouth or spotted bass.
