Fishing Report (Updated 5.17.2010)

Guide Marcus Leach advises that trout fishing is red hot in the upstate right now. Stream temperatures have risen and the trout are actively feeding on a variety of hatching insects. While the month of May has a variety of species that can hatch at any given time, there are a handful of important types to remember. The three species of mayfly (March Browns, Light Cahills, and Sulphurs) that hatch this time of year are very prominent. Stoneflies (Yellow, Giant Black, and Golden) will also occasionally draw the attention of trout. The weather and water temperatures are terrific and this is a great time to catch fish on dry flies!
