1: FREE Georgetown Nautica Marine Annual Saltwater Fishing School - Come to the Nautica Marine Showroom on Church Street and enjoy a free lunch and great speakers including Captain Tommy Scarborough, Captain Lin Fore, and John Hurst. Topics will include bottom fishing, inshore fishing for reds and trout, and offshore trolling for kings, tuna, dolphin, and wahoo. Pawley's Island Outdoors will display their line of fishing tackle and supplies and the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be on hand to answer questions concerning boating regulations and safety in SC waters. 10: Saluda River Trout Unlimited's March chapter meeting will feature an update on the FERC relicensing process for the Saluda Hydro Facility & Lake Murray Dam. This is very important as the relicensing will affect what happens to the lower Saluda River for the next 30 years. The organization urges everyone who is interested in the well being of the lower Saluda River to come to this meeting. The meeting will be held at the Green Quad Learning Facility on USC's Campus from 6:30 to 9:00 PM.

19 - Saluda River Trout Unlimited Banquet - This year's banquet will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19th in the Vista Room at the Blue Marlin Restaurant, located at 1200 Lincoln St. in Columbia's Vista area. This should be TU's best banquet yet and they invite you to a great evening of fun and good food. Featuring heavy hors d'ouevres, silent auction, live auction, and a cash bar. Tickets $35/single, $60/couple.

1 - The East Cooper Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association invites you to enjoy their 5th Annual “Celebrating Conservation” Event Thursday, May 01, 2008, 6:00 p.m. at Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant. This event is open to all! Social Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. with food catered by Charleston Bay Gourmet, followed by a Live Auction and Silent Auction. Open bar is included. 2 - Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Marine Conservation Banquet and Auction - To complement the Open House event taking place on Saturday, Fort Johnson is also the host-site for the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Marine Conservation Banquet and Auction on Friday evening, May 2nd from 6 - 10 p.m. The Saltwater Soiree will preview some DNR exhibits that will be on display during the Open House. The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that partners with the SCDNR for the promotion of education, research, management and the administration of game and fish laws, which will benefit conservation of wildlife, marine and other natural resources in South Carolina.
 
 
3 - DNR Marine Resources Division Open House at Fort Johnson, James Island - The community is invited to participate on May 3, 2008, in a fun-filled educational day to check out information booths, educational seminars, instructive demonstrations and site tours at the Marine Resources Division. All ages are welcome and kids can come check out how to be an SC Reel Kid, how the Take One Make One mentoring program works, fishing and cast netting demonstrations, fish printing, and touch tank displays.
 
 
14 - S.C. SALTWATER FISHERIES ADVISORY GROUP MEETING IN CHARLESTON - The Saltwater Recreational Fisheries Advisory Committee to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 in the Eltzroth Administration Building Conference Room at the Marine Resources Center in Charleston. The Saltwater Recreational Fisheries Advisory Committee was established by law to advise the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on prioritizing the use of funds from the saltwater recreational fishing license. William H. Puckett III of Georgetown is chairman of the Saltwater Recreational Fisheries Advisory Committee. The meeting is open to the public. 14 - Angler Alley at the Town of Lexington Municipal Center Complex - The Lake Murray Bassmasters Elite Series all kicks off on Wednesday, May 14th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Bassmasters Elite Series “Angler Alley.” This event will be held at the Municipal Center in the heart of the Town of Lexington. Anglers will be on hand to meet the fans, sign autographs and take photographs. This is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal, see their boats and, maybe, learn a fishing tip or two! Kids will love this evening! (“Angler Alley” will be held in the Magistrate Court Parking Lot, across the street from the Town Hall. Maiden Lane in front of the Town Hall will be closed and attendees are encouraged to park at the County Facility off of Hwy 6)
   
17 & 18 - Outdoor Expo at the Lake Murray Yacht Club and Marina. Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th will be fun for the whole family! Both days, from 12-5 p.m., there will be kids activities, live performances by the “Black Bottom Biscuits,” delicious food and exhibits by national sponsors. Come out and enjoy the fun before the weigh-ins begin at 3 pm. This is your chance to be a part of the action and even possibly be filmed to appear on ESPN during the airing of this tournament. (Due to an expected high volume of traffic and parking needs, shuttles will run from Ballentine Elementary School on Bickley Road to the Marina and from Gateway Baptist Church every 15 minutes. This is a free service to ease parking problems on site.)
