October 2009 Bass Angler Power Rankings

SCFishingReport.com is excited to announce the October 2009 South Carolina Bass Angler Power Rankings. These standings include September and October '09 tournament results from all non-club level South Carolina bass tournaments for which the results were reported on SCFishingReport.com. If you would like a tournament or tournament trail to be included that is not presently listed on this site be sure to notify SCFishingReport.com before the event.

Keith Hutto and Craig Johnson, both of Georgia, remain leaders in the fall 2009 points race but they are also joined by Aiken Barton of Greenville and Andy Owens of Camden atop the leaderboard with 16 points. Keith and Craig earned points in the Sept. 16-19 FLW Series Event on Lake Thurmond (6 for Hutto, 7 for Johnson) and the Sept. 26-27 BFL Tournament on the same lake (10 for Hutto, 9 for Johnson).

Aiken earned points in the Oct. 24 SCLEOA Benefit Tournament on Lake Hartwell, the Oct. 24 Visioncasters Tournament on Lake Hartwell, the Oct. 3-4 BFL Tournament on Lake Hartwell and the Sept. 19 Fish the Fall Tournament on Lake Hartwell.

Andy earned points in the Oct. 31 CATT Qualifier on Lake Murray, the Oct. 24 Shaw Bassers Benefit Tournament on Lake Wateree, the Oct. 3 Tri-State Bass Club Open on Lake Wateree and the Sept. 26 CATT Qualifier on Lake Wateree.

Tied for fifth place are Walt Almond of McBee and Larry Martin of Anderson.

Here's how the points are calculated:

For tournaments with less than five boats, first place angler(s) receive one point, 1st - 1.

For tournaments with 5-10 boats, 1st - 2, 2nd - 1

11-20 boats, 1st - 3, 2nd - 2, 3rd - 1

21-30 boats, 1st - 4, 2nd - 3, 3rd - 2, 4th -1

31-40 boats, 1st - 5, 2nd - 4, 3rd - 3, 4th - 2, 5th - 1

41-50 boats, 1st - 6, 2nd - 5, 3rd - 4, 4th - 3, 5th - 2, 6th - 1

51-60 boats, 1st - 7, 2nd - 6, 3rd - 5, 4th - 4, 5th - 3, 6th - 2, 7th - 1

61-70 boats, 1st - 8, 2nd - 7, 3rd - 6, 4th - 5, 5th - 4, 6th - 3, 7th - 2, 8th - 1

71-80 boats, 1st - 9, 2nd - 8, 3rd - 7, 4th - 6, 5th - 5, 6th - 4, 7th - 3, 8th - 2, 9th - 1

81 or more boats, 1st - 10, 2nd - 9, 3rd - 8, 4th - 7, 5th - 6, 6th - 5, 7th - 4, 8th - 3, 9th - 2, 10th - 1

Both members of a team receive the points in team tournaments, and for Boater/ Co-Angler type events equal points are given on both sides. Anglers fishing alone in a team tournament receive a 1/3 bonus. So, a 3 point finish is actually worth 4.33 points if a tournament angler is fishing alone in a team event, and a 5 point finish in a team tournament is actually worth 6.67 points for an angler fishing alone.
