We only boated 4 fish yesterday.(2-4lbs) We launched before daylight in a light mist. All day it was either windy, cloudy, rainey, and fog, with low visibility. (sometimes all at the same time) As dreary and miserable as it was, it seemed like the perfect day to catch fish. We had a variety of baits,(except herring) The four that was caught (missed several) was caught on SMALL fresh whole bream .We had some SMALL frozen shad that produced a little interest but no results. We were drifting broadside with one driftsock at almost 1mph so we added another sock to slow down. Freelining was not effective for us, Drifting in deeper water with santee rigs caught these. We asked a couple of guys at the landing how they did and one boat caught 7 and the other boat caught 10. That made me feel a little better. Nothing worse than catching four and everyone else caught a coolerful. We probably should anchor more often but need to learn the graph better to have more confidence in locating fish and actually situating the boat correctly on a choice anchorage. It seems like an awful long learning curve between beginner and intermediate catfishing. I just need to hurry up and GRADUATE!! CLG
