Striper Kings had its Points Tournament #9 on Saturday at Lake Hartwell from Portman. Thanks to tournament director Allen Hill for results.

83 people participated in the tournament fishing out of 34 boats. 25 boats weighed in fish and nine did not. One fish over 20 pounds and 19 fish over 10 pounds were caught, and the top 6 boats all averaged more than 10 pounds per fish (40 pounds). It poured with rain much of the morning and most of the boats anchored off points in the main creek and river run and fished cut blueback herring about 20 to 25 feet deep. A few boats trolled downlines in the creeks about 24 feet down.
Winners in the main tournament were:
1) Rob McClure, Glen Pittman and Richie Gomez with four fishing weighing 48.19 pounds worth $310.00, including a 13.04, a 14.58, a 10.18, and a 10.39.
2) Warren Turner, Rocky Fulmer and Ryan Wright with 47 pounds worth $260.00
3) Mike Barnett, Gene Croxdale, Bill Shirah and David Barnett with 46.49 pounds worth $201.00.
4) Barry Taylor and Joey Holden with 44.93 pounds worth $155.
5) Dean Wilson, Eddie Beebe, Frank Hallman and Russ Garner with 41.61 pounds worth $103.00.
The winner of the tournament within the tournament worth $300.00 was the first place team of McClure, Pittman and Gomez.
First place big fish worth $270.00 went to Leonard Bishop, Sr. with a 20.67 pound fish.
Second place big fish worth $115.00 went to Barry Taylor with a 16.98 pound fish. Dean Wilson was only a fraction of an ounce behind with a 16.95 pound big fish.
The winner of the Junior Youth Division was Chandler Hartwell, and the winner of the Senior Youth Division was Basily Difort.
Striper King's next tournament will be the first weekend in June on Lake Hartwell when 30 children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation will get to fish with their families in the boats of Striper Kings members. It will be followed by a cookout at Wellness Landing.
