Carolina Catmen Tournament Results

On Saturday, January 9 the Carolina Catmen braved the cold for their first tournament of 2010 - on the Cooper River & Lake Moultrie. Thanks to JD Trammell for results and write-up.

The threat of low temps & high winds did not stop 10 teams from turning out for the Carolina Catmen 2010 Season Opener. The high winds ( gusting up to 20 mph) may have convinced some teams to try their luck on the river. The bitter 27 degree low had ice building on the lines. The big blues still bit, though, with half the teams weighing in full 5 fish limits. The Lake Vs. River battle heated up as the lake came out on top for the second season in a row. The lake didn't produce the numbers of fish that the river did but what the lake fishers did turn in was big fish. The river produced high numbers of fish and river anglers claimed to have the opportunity to cull - but they had no monsters to turn in. The 36" rule made the weigh in very close, showing that as far back as 6th place merely needed 1 big fish to catch the leaders.
