CATT Tournament 7 Feb

Postby timmerberg on Thu Feb 05, 2009 1:16 pm

Has anyone tried fishing up the Little Saluda or in Hawleek Creek lately? I've got a tournament this Saturday and won't be able to check those areas out before then. Just wondering if anybody has tried them out! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bank Pounder Jim.

Thanks to Brett Collins ("bcatt" on here) for the tournament results.

28 Teams ventured out on Lake Murray this past Saturday looking for those 5 bass that would push them to the top. It’s been difficult finding that magic limit with the coldest winter we’ve had in years but with the weather starting to warm that limit will be easier to catch as we get deeper into the Spring Trail on Murray. By the next CATT on Murray which is March 7th the bass should be shallow and hungry.

**Arthur State Bank will pay you $500 if you win a CATT event in the 2009 Spring season. A team member has to show proof that they have an active checking account with Author State Bank.

All the teams that entered Saturday are eligible to enter the 2009 CATT Classic on Lake Wateree May 30-31 and compete for a total purse of $15,000.00

Mark McCormick of Chapin and Howard Stephens of Columbia are old CATT guys who know a trick or two when it comes to catching Lake Murray bass. Saturday they brought in a solid limit weighing 15 lbs 13 ozs to take 1st Place and the points lead. They also took home 2nd Place BF money with a 4 lb 9 oz bass. All total they collected $714.00

Clay Riddle and Mike Riddle both of Chapin weighed in another good limit at 14 lbs 7 ozs to take 2nd Place and the BONUS $. They received $470.00

3rd went to Skeebo Kelly of Hartsville and Davy Thomas of Sumter weighed in 5 bass at 14 lbs 4 ozs and also had the BF at 4 lbs 12 ozs to take home a total of $446.00.

Chris Sample and Charles Wilkie both of Lexington brought in a limit weighing 9 lbs 14 ozs to take 4th and $130.00

Anthony Marks of Spartanburg and Joe Marks of Moore took home the last check at $100.00 for coming in 5th with 8 lbs 13 ozs.

The Lake Murray Spring 2009 Final Fund stands at $500 and 1st Place at the Final will receive $2,500.00 GUARANTEED! Next Lake Murray CATT is March 7th at Dreher Island State Park.

Thanks for the results Brett! That was a really well-run tournament, and I am looking forward to March 7. My partner will be out of town, so I've talked Jay into fishing with me. Hopefully, the bite will pick up. Once again, the fish I had found in practice moved on me, and I wasn't able to re-locate them on tournament day. Tried fishing some history, but just couldn't get anything going. Any tips on how best to find them when they move? I know they didn't pack up and leave, but I couldn't get them to bite. Bank Pounder Jim.
