Striper Kings Points Tournament #10 Results

Striper Kings had its Points Tournament #10 on Saturday at Lake Murray from Dreher Island State Park. Thanks to tournament director Allen Hill for results. Allen notes that George's Live Herring near Prosperity has some big, beautiful herring for sale right now.

65 people participated in the tournament and fished out of 25 boats. 14 boats weighed in fish and 11 did not. Almost all of the boats fished in the lower part of the lake. Three patterns predominated:

1) Cut bait - anglers anchored in 30 feet of water and fished from 25 to 50 feet deep.
2) Down lines - boats fished about 60 feet deep towards the dam.
3) Trolling - anglers used downriggers and lead core lines to troll umbrella rigs in 30 to 45 feet of water.


Winners in the tournament were:

1) Rob Best, Gerald Smith, and Jerry Koon with 4 fish weighing 30.64 pounds.

2) Dean Wilson and Frank Hallman with 4 fish weighing 23.93 pounds.

3) Scott Perry and Mike Jones with 3 fish weighing 16.84 pounds.

4) Warren Turner and Rocky Fulmer with 3 fish weighing 14.21 pounds.

5) Mike Barnett, Gene Croxdale, Bill Shirah and David Barnett with 1 fish weighing 14.06 pounds.


First place big fish went to Jerry Koon with a 16.92 pound fish.

Second place big fish went to Mike Barnett with a 14.06 pound fish.


The winner of the Junior Youth Division was Chandler Hartwell, and the winner of the Senior Youth Division was Adam Hallman.


Striper King's next tournament will be a night tournament on Lake Thurmond, and following that will be a night tournament on Lake Hartwell.
