TEAM LANDLOCKED WINS MSC SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT; TEAM 50 % CATCHES BIGGEST FISHMidland Striper Club's September team tournament was held Saturday, September 19th out of Jakes Landing on Lake Murray. 14 boats fished the all-day event, weighing in 45 striped bass. Teams are allowed to weigh-in four fish in the competition.
1st Place went to Team Landlocked, consisting of Richie Brensinger and Joey Smoak, both of Lexington. The team’s winning catch totaled 25 lbs. 9 ozs.
Close behind in 2nd Place was Team 50%, captained by Van Cook of Chapin fishing with Darren Holcomb of Chapin, with a catch totaling 24 lbs. 11 ozs. Team 50% also caught the event’s Nichols Store of Rock Hill Big Fish, an 11 lb. 12 oz. striped bass.
Team Two Guys and a Gizzard, captained by Cam Littlejohn of Columbia fishing with Woody Barnes of Lexington, took 3rd Place with a total weight of 24 lbs. 6 ozs. The event’s smallest legal creel was caught by Team Fogbone, captained by James Lindler of West Columbia.
Midlands Striper Club, founded in 1979, is celebrating its 30th year and is one of the oldest striped bass fishing organizations in the country. Since 2001, the club’s nearly 200 members have donated over $36,000 to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources for striped bass research and stock enhancements in the Palmetto State.
