Well I’m sure it was fun and no doubt it was hot on the guys fishing this past weekend. 95% of the teams showed back up Sunday so there was still a lot of teams who had hope they could do some catching up. After fishing Lake Wateree for 2 days the 61 teams that entered the 2009 CATT Classic had covered every inch of the lake looking for that magic spot that would give up the bass they needed to end up on top and take home a boat load of cash...but only one team would find enough and it was barely enough…1 ounce separated the top 2 spots!

William and Mark Richardson both of Irmo, the Irmo Guys as we call them, have been fishing Wateree the past 2 years more than their home lake which is Lake Murray and who could blame them. Not only did they take home 1st place at the 2008 Wateree Fall Final but after Sunday they can add a CATT Classic win in 2009! Over 2 days William and Mark weighed in a 10 bass limit at 30 lbs 8 ozs to take home $5000.00 plus they won the 1st Place BONUS $. All total they collected $5,980.00! Both guys were using Shooter jigs and they were spooled up with Izorline. Of course William and Mark qualified though the Wateree Division. This marks the largest 1st Place check CATT has awarded since 1997, the year CATT was established and pushes William and Marks total CATT winnings over $12,000.00!

Coming in 2nd were Jim Smoak and Mike Watson both of Sumter who qualified through the Santee Cooper Division. Mike and Jim weighed in 10 bass totaling up to 30 lbs 7 ozs. On top of 2nd place prize money they also collected the 2nd Place BONUS $. All total they took $2,420.00 back to Sumter.

3rd went to Andy Owens of Camden fishing out of the Wateree Division. On the 1st day of competition Andy brought in a whopper to take the Big Fish pot. Andy weighed in 10 bass over 2 days at 28 lbs 11 ozs and his Big Fish weighed 7 lbs 3 ozs. 3rd and 4th Place were tied but the BF breaks a tie. All total Andy took home $1,810.00.

Steve Pizzino and David Bellamy both of Dalzell and qualified through the Wateree Division brought in 10 bass weighing 28 lbs. 11 ozs and the collected $900.00 for finishing 4th.

5th Place went to Rusty White who qualified through the Wylie Division and he brought in 10 bass weighing 27 lbs 12 ozs and took home $520.00.

Davey Whittington of Hudson, NC and Don Poteat of Morganton, NC fishing out of the Wylie Division brought in another 10 bass limit weighing 27 lbs 4 ozs and they collected $400.00 for their 6th Place finish.

Ray Dowey and Joey Outlaw both of Lugoff and out of the Wateree Division weighed in 10 bass at 25 lbs 14 ozs and they received $350.0 for finishing in 7th Place.

Chad Gainey and Cleve Yarborough both of Hartsville qualified through the Wateree Division took 8th Place and weighed in 10 bass at 25 lbs 13 ozs,. They took home a total of $300.00

9th Place – Jimmy McFarland and Calvin Griggs both of Hartsville – Wateree Division- 25.08 $250.00

10th Place – Josh McGregor (Timmonsville) Larry McGregor (Hartsville) Wateree- 25.05 $225.00

11th Place – Walt Almond (McBee) Chad Rabon (Camden) Wateree Division- 24.12 $200.00

12th Place – Chris Brunson (Sumter) Nelson Walker (Manning) Santee Division- 24.12 $200.00
