Cold and Tough

Postby timmerberg on Sat Nov 07, 2009 6:29 am

Went with a buddy up to Wylie yesterday. I had forgotten how cold it can be with dense fog and 32 degrees. The hands just didn't want to cooperate and neither did the bass. We struggled to put 4 keepers in the boat over the next 7 hours. All came from docks in creeks. # on soft plastics and 1 on a crankbait. Maybe, things will start to pick up with this cold weather! The few bass we are catching are long and thin. They don't seem to have started feeding up for the winter. Hopefully, and day now! I'm picking up my trolling motor from the dealer today. I'll put it on the boat and intend to try again tomorrow. Anybody having any luck up there? Bank Pounder Jim.

Jim, I spent a 2 hours on the north end of Wylie this afternoon and didn't get any activity. Fished the docks in Paw Creek with T-rigged plastics, spinners, cranks and jigs. Even trolled some structure with baitfish around it and got ziltch. I am hoping the bass with start packing it on soon. Are you fishing C-rig or t-rig with your plastics? I get 90% of my bass with a black worm on a t-rig.
Also, I have read your posts on here. Thanks for the info. I am new to freshwater fishing and am having to learn the art of bass fishing. You have been helping.

Thanks! I'm throwing my favorite YUM red shad ribbontail worm on a t-rig with an 1/8 oz sinker. I think they want a slow fall this time of the year. I fished in Paw Creek too. The water was too stained for me. It clears up down past Catawba Creek. Decided to give it /me a break today. I'll try again next week. Our club tournament is next Saturday. Hopefully, the bite will get better by then. Bank Pounder Jim.
